On Friday the 24th some of the year 5`s and year 4`s went to the beach and got taught about safe swimming.  When we had our free swim I saw a jellyfish and it was black. It had pink legs and I screamed as loud as I could

Monarch Butterflies

What they are.

Butterflies are a insectes that can fly. Also they have white and black and orange spots  they have patterns. All butterflies can be different colors. Butterflies have two antennae  to sense and smell things that they might eat. Butterflies are 12 inches big.

What do they eat?

Butterflies eat all types of yucky stuff.They eat nectar, tree sap bird droppings,

liquids and rotting fruits. They eat mucky mud and they eat pollen. Butterflies eat by drinking nectar from flowers by using its tongue and sucking it up. Butterflies are helpful to the environment by getting pollen from flowers and carrying it other places and makes flowers bloom and other plants grow.

Their Habitat

Butterflies live in mountains and regions. They hide under rocks and hide under leaves and fly into trees that have holes in them. Butterflies can die if they are in the rain for to long.they live in wetlands,grassland and mountains. Butterflies and moths live and have babies in different places such as salt marshes, marsh gloves,sand dunes,lowland and forest, rock surfaces and flat ground.

 

Lifecycle

First, a female butterflies lays lots of eggs. Second, they come out as a caterpillar (larvae) and they eat so, so much food and get fat. Next, when they are fully grown they go into a pupa (cocoon) by curling up and spinning into a silky cocoon.  Last, come out of the pupa and become a beautiful butterfly.

The calendar art is for fundraising. The calendar art is about silhouettes and color. You get a piece of paper, pastels, black piece of paper, scissor, pencil and a computer and vivid. The learning muscles that I used was persevering muscle because I had to ignore distractions around me.

Beach ED Rules

SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS always swim between the flags because if you go out of the flags and there are strong currents and you will get taken away. 


HAVE A ADULT TO WATCH OVER YOU always have a adult watching you because you might go out of the flags and you might swim to far  and it is safe.

LISTEN TO THE ADVICE FROM THE SURF LIFE GUARDS always lighten to the life gads because if you don`t you will drown and get token away and they will not  be a bell to save you because it is to strong.

NEVER SWIM OR SURF ALONE never swim or surf alone because if you drown no one will no.

IF IN DOUBT STAY OUT if you see that it is wavy don`t go in the see and if it looks flat don`t go there.

PBL modle

This is my model. it is a butterfly and it is made out of straws , plastic a,newspaper ,PVA glue , pant and hot glue tap. First I rolled my butterflies head into a ball then I rolled my butterflies body in to a worm kind a shape then i grabbed the tap and then I taped them to gather then i taped the hole body. Then I put newspaper all over it with PVA glue. Then I waited for a day the i panted it with black pant.

 I waited another day then i did the wings how I made the wings was straws, hot glue ,plastic  what you do with the straws is you make triangle shape and then hot glue both of the sides.  Then glue on the straws  on the plastic and wait for it to dries and do one the other-one and when they have dried you cut them and then you put newspaper and then you put PVA glue with the the newspaper and then winnings and then you wait other day. Then you paint  it and let it dire and then when it is dire you paint  the winnings  the first colour, that you start with is black,Orange,yellow, and white. then I lave it over night the nixed day I put eyes on and they turned droopy and then I put a dot of paint on the eyes. Then i tried the legs and it was a fail and i tried and tried  and fail so I did not get to finish.

To of the stars are called wait and waita and they are twins

Around june is matariki

Round the cluster is 2 more stars called pohutukawa and hawaikirangi

If the stars are hazy it is going to be a bad season

Kites are the stars too but also they are still stars

In japan there are only 6 stars

THE MONSTROUS TREE MONSTER

Once upon a time there was a monstrous tree monster that lived in the forest with her mum and dad.  Her mum and dad  were in a cave asleep so she decided to go  looking for food and water to give to her mum and dad. She was scared because the wolves were howling. She wasn't too scared because she had wolf blood in her so she howled and ran back home and set up the food on the table and the water was  in old cups. Her mum and dad woke up and ate.they were fill  so they drank some water and shoved all of it down her  throat then they went to bed and they were fast asleep. There was  no sound it was so quiet you couldn't her anything except the birds tweeting away in there tree.

2     The pinky greeny leaves swished and swayed. as the monstrous tree monster was running home. The wind was setting in. she ran home and her leaves were falling off and she only had 20 leaves left. Another one fell the next day and she only had 19 she was scared because she didn't  want to be bald

 3   The bluey gray wolf legs are galloping through the spooky  forest  and he heard a sound and he howled and galloped away. When he got home he  gulped. He went to sleep.  flies were all over him. cock-a-doodle 0do  he woke up and ran to the forest with his bluey gnd her ray legs he ran as fast as he could. “Oww “he got trapped. His leg were kicking and kicking the mum and dad woke up and galloped on there  way and they found her stack owwww she screamed the mum and dad kicked the trape open  and ran home the mum and dad put her to bed. and in the morning she did`d not wake up  and she stayed in bed for the day the next day she woke up and made some breakfast. and mum and dad  said don't do that leat us do it. Her legs looked nearly healed but not quite so she did not run to the forest.

4 The brown spiky branches were annoying the the mum and dad so they said we have to cut  them. No never I like my brunches as she poked her dad and the mum said that`s a nuf and the monstrous tree monster ran to her room and a branch snapped of.  So she said i'm going to the forest to calm down and get everything clear And  as she rushed to the forest her brunches snippet of and she kept on running and she got to the place that she liked it was quiet and peaceful she liked it and she was calm and she looked at her brunches and she only hade 10 brunches left suddenly they grew back.

Dear Megan

Thank you again for coming to  camp moore road. Thank you for helping and cleaning our room You help to make it really clean and tidy.  Again thank Very much I really appreciate it.  

My highlight was when you helped me get my jacket on because it was un done. And when she checked on us every night. You also helped me if I was hurt. When I fell over when we doing the lolly light spotlight game you were there to help me and when I had had enough and my feet were cold you said it was ok to go in the dorm and keep warm.

Another highlight when we were going to see the longfin eels, I couldn’t really see and you helped me and Olivia to be able to see the eels by nicely asking people to move.

Dear Dad

Thank you for coming to Camp Moore Road.  You are joyful and by joyful I mean you make me laugh. You are a good joker and by a good joker I mean you crack me up. You said you would kick us out on the side of the road to go to the toilet.

Thank you for driving us all the way to Mount Bruce and giving us lollipops on the way. My favorite flavor was apple black currant and lemon and strawberry. My least favourite was orange. You said you will let us choose any lollipop we like.

My highlight was driving back from Mount Bruce because me and my friend Sophie and Miss Hinde were singing to olden day song’s. And we sang rap songs and it cracked me up. Mrs Hinde said “What are these songs?” I said “Songs.” And she said “Well that doesn't help. I need to know what songs.”  Sophie said “Well we don't know what they are, we just know the songs.”

At Mount Bruce one of the Longfin eels was there  for 40 years and it was 106 years old. Dad said what are they eating and they were eating the person said sper pork she said they usually eat scraps. The lady said  They are greedy.

Giant Squid

I saw a giant squid and it was in a blob of glass. It was creepy because one eye was open and one eye was closed. The other thing that looked Creepy was all that you  was white because the eye was looking up. C-r-r-r-r-r-r-e-e-e-p-p-p-y.

Squirrels

I heard the squeals squeaking   away in the tree. I got to feed them bare handed and it tickled and I    felt weird. Then my mum and my three sisters fed the squirrel. They even said  it tickled.

Museum

I was in the museum and I saw some awesome stuff like  these games where you had to catch the squid and fish. It was funny because my sisters kept on trying and they failed. I nevered failed. They said let me try one more time I said ok and they failed again. So we moved on and we saw  this shop called Smiggle. I got a necklace ,It was  an owl and I got an owl ring.

Statues

I saw statues of warriors. They had  bits of red on them. It said do not touch.  Then we went to the next bit. There was a warrior that was holding a creamy corn can and there was flies all around it. There was corn falling out of the can.

Jellyfish

The jellyfish  was in a tank and they were eating.  I saw the mum sting the baby accidentally. She thought it was the food. Then the baby swam away, the mum followed and the baby swam faster and faster and finally the mum stopped following.
